When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'.

Education Goals
To become so smart I realize I know nothing. But as for the future....click on "The Plan". There is also a plan to publish a small paperback book that costs less than $10 called "John's Little Book of Hope." |
Personal Goals
I have a real desire to take my wife to some exotic locations as she has never been anywhere but the western United States. This includes going to my second Mother country: Brazil. I was raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and miss it and it's people and culture. So somewhere in the next few years we will hopefully do that. Just in case she doesn't have the wonder-lust bug like I do, I will hopefully go on volunteer medical missions to Africa and Central and South America. My wife loves lighthouses. So in case she never goes to some exotic place with me, I want to tour the lighthouses of the USA with her. But above all, I want to touch as many people as I can. This includes my students and society in general. That was why I became a nurse. |
Making a Difference
There was a young boy walking the ocean after a great storm.
There were thousands of starfish washed up on the beach.
As he walked, he would occassionally pick up a starfish and throw it back into the sea.
An old man sat and watched him.
When the young boy approached the old man, the old man said,
"What are you doing son?"
The young boy replied,"Saving the starfish!"
With an incredulous look on his face, the old man exclaimed,
"How can you possibly make a difference? There are so many!"
The young boy stopped, picked up a starfish and threw it back into the sea and said,
"Made a difference for that one."
I hope to write a book about my life experiences and making a difference.
